Table Tennis NORTH BEATS SOUTH
R. V. Jackson Outstanding (Hew Zeaiana Press WELLINGTON. September I. As was generally expected, the Nerth Island’s table tennis representatives were far too strong for the South Island in the annual match in the Lower Hurt Town Hall yesterday. The North L landers won both the men’s and women’s secticns convincingly. There were no major surprises during the contest. R. V. Jackson, of Auckland, once again demonstarted that he is New Zealand's outstanding player with two im - pressive singles wins. Jackson and A. R. Tomlinson dropped a set »o the young Foster brothers (South Island) in the doubles, however. Though B. A. Foster, the 17-year-old New Zealand representative, too, won a set from Tomlinson in the singles, he scored a total of only 14 points against Jackson in two sets. R. L. Foster played weH to beat W. O. Jaine in two sets. A marathon match between Miss M. M. Hoar, of Auckland, and Mrs J. M. Prisk. of Canterbury, was declared a no contest because the players exceeded the time limit. In 40 minutes they scored only 14 points. Results (North Island names first):
