In those circumstances prairie grass would not be suitable .to put in a pasture mixture. It is too palatable and stock cut it out. However, it has use if sown with white clover as a special pasture, in that it is saved early in the autumn and fed off during the winter time when it provides valuable greenfeed and recovers rapidly. Three to five acres per 30 to 40 cows is very useful under town milk conditions. It should be break-fed and care taken that cows do not graze over areas already fed off. This allows quicker recovery.
