120 Workers Leave Job
(New Zealand Press Association) TAUPO, September 1. It is estimated that by tomorrow morning about 120 men will have left the employ of International Contractors, Ltd., at Wairakei. The exodus began on Thursday of last week, the day before the remaining 300 men who had downed tools on Tuesday resumed work..
It is said the 120 men who have left, the geothermal project have dispersed to other similar jobs, a few of them as far away as Benmore. Those who remain at Wairakei intend holding a meeting at midday tomorrow. The purpose of this meeting has not been disclosed.
