SUGAR PRICES UP AGAIN
Increase Of £2 A Ton (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 1. Wholesale prices for refined and raw sugar will rise £2 a ton tomorrow, the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Ltd., has announced. This would probably mean an increase in the retail price of Id a pound to lOd a pound, the New Zealand manager of the company (Mr A. C. Isaacs) said in Auckland yesterday. Mr Isaacs said the rise was due to a normal fluctuation on the raw sugar market. This rise halts a series of price falls which, since July 22, brought the retail price down a total of £8 10s a ton. The prices of all packs of the company’s golden syrup, ‘ treacle, coffee, sugar crystals, and loaf sugar are unaltered.
