100 REBELS KILLED
Fierce Clashes In Algeria
ALGIERS, September 1. More than 100 insurgents were killed yesterday in clashes with French troops according to reports reaching Algiers. Near Michelet; east of Algiers, insurgents ambushed a French column killing five French soldiers and wounding five.
The losses of the insurgents when the French counterattacked were described as considerable, but no figures were available.
Near El Kantara, 67 insurgents were killed and seven captured. Thirty insurgents died and seven were taken prisoner in fighting near Batna.
