Seven Deaths In ' Hospital , (New Zealand Press Association) ■ AUCKLAND. August 30. Twenty persons suffering from pneumonia were admitted to the Green Lane Hospital between midday on Thursday and late this evening. This number exceeded that for any of the previous three days, and indicated that the illness was becoming more prevalent. Since August 23. 94 persons have entered hospital with pneumonia (Ten went in on Thursday, 14 on Wednesday and 17 on Tuesday. | Seven persons, including two I men aged 20. another of 24, and ’ four elderly patients have died, iTn every case, the fatal pneumonia was preceded by influenza. “With all these pneumonia cases, there is no doubt -that influenza has played a part,” Dr. D. R. Goodfellow, acting Superintendent-! n-Chief of the Auckland Hospital Board, said today. “It is obvious that many people who been in bed with influenza are either getting about or returning to work too soon.” A finding that death was caused by pneumonia, following upon influenza. was returned by the Coroner (Dr. J. W. Y. Miles), when he concluded an inquest at Tauranga into the death of Taikato Murray. ,

Murray, a 15-y ear-old farmhand, employed by his father at Matakana Island, died on August 17, after contracting influenza about two days earlier.

A married man died in the Whangarei Hospital yesterday, after being admitted on Monday with pneumonic influenza.
