PLASTIC COVER FOR PARK
Protection Front Rain
A plastic covering for the oval at Lancaster Park was discussed at a meeting of the Victory Park Board on Thursday. A letter had been received from the Sydenham Rugby Football Club asking if it would be possible to have a plastic covering made to protect ground from the rain during the heavy football season. The letter said covers were used on playing ’fields in many countries. One member of the board said plastic covers were used on many cricket pitches in Australia .but I they seemed to perish very .quickly.
! It was decided not to do anything about the purchase of a special cover but to make inquiries regarding the use and durability of these covers overseas.
