CHEVIOT TRUST HOTEL

Good Progress With Building

If the present rate of progress of construction of the Cheviot Licensing Trust’s hotel at Cheviot is maintained, the building may be ready for use before Christmas, said the chairman of the trust, Mr W. N. Maxwell. It had been decided to advertise for a manager for the hotel soon, he said.

The Cheviot County Council had recently agreed to guarantee a further £llOO for the trust to allow additional £6600 capital expenditure if necessary. This increase over the estimates had been brought about by increased costs of furnishings and equipment for the proposed hotel, including the provision of fittings and tanks to handle bulk supplies of beer. The new estimates were almost the same as the original estimates on the basis of which the trust was formed, and was still considered in keeping with the expected trading of the hotel, said Mr Maxwell.
