ADDINGTON MARKET Another Sound Sale For Major Classes

With the exception of spring lambs all classes of sheep and cattle met a sound market at Addington yesterday. There was again a large attendance of farmers. A much smaller yarding of fat hoggets was easily absorbed and top pens made £5 and over. There were too many spring lambs and in cases most of them were not marketed in the bloom and at the right weights. A reasonably-sized entry of fat sheep met a satisfactory market. Store sheep values remained very firm with emphasis oil good ewes with lambs at foot. Fat cattle sold firm to firmer by comparison with late rates.

STORE SHEEP

At 1412 the entry of store sheep was about half of that of last week. The store lamb sale opened quietly and later, values firmed. Over all the sale was an excellent one, the touch of spring in the air influencing values. Wether hoggets sold to 79s and ewe hoggets to £5. In the adult section the few wethers on offer, sold somewhat in advance of late rates. The handful of two-tooth ewes offered were eagerly Snapped up at up to £6 Ils. The small entry of older ewes sold on a par with late rates with top price at £5 3s. Ewes with lambs at foot, of which there was a srhall but high quality selection, made up to 625. The offering of store sheep totalled 1412 head compared with 2438 last week and 1700 the previous week. Hoggets, of which there were 957, accounted for more than half of the entry.
