Dairy Companies’ Good Will Sought By Commission
The Dairy Products Marketing Commission earnestly desires the good will and suggestions of all dairy companies, says the chairman, Mr, R. A. Candy, in a letter sent to the chairmen of all cooperative dairy companies.
Th 6 commission believes that if the industry can settle its problems within the industry itself in a co-operative spirit, the future can be faced imperturbably.
“It is in this spirit and in the belief that we have your good will that the new commission begins its work.”
The old commission, from its inception, tried to expand New Zealand’s markets for dairy produce and achieved a substantial measure of success. The new commission. the letter continues, is \veli aware that with more difficult marketing conations in
Britain, expansion of these markets is most desirable. The commission is therefore closely examining world markets for dairy produce and will try to exploit prospective markets to the full. “No Sudden Changes” “We must,, however, recognise that no sudden changes can be expected. World trade is greatly hamperec by the limited availability of exchange in many countries, by import licensing systems and, in some cases through straight-out embargoes on imports of dairy produce.” The London director of the commission, Mr J. W. Rodden, would arrive in New Zealand by the end of the month, and arrangements were being made for him to meet as many , dairy company chairmen as possible at dairy association meetings.
