CARPENTERS IN AUCKLAND
New Zealand Union Rejoined (New Zealana Press Association! AUCKLAND, August 21. The Auckland Carpenters’ Union decided last night to rejoin the New Zealand Union, after being on its own for eight years. The old Auckland branch of the New Zealand union was deregistered during the 1949 carpenters’ strike in Auckland. Auckland carpenters also want to be joined with the New Zealand union in a new award. This move is opposed by the employers and has been passed on to the Court of Arbitration for a decision.
