Noise Legislation.— Local councils in New South Wales will soon be able to control the noise coming from jukeboxes, milk bars, and hotels. The State Cabinet has approved legislation allowing the councils to make ordinances for the regulation of noise.— Sydney, August 3.
Population of Canada.— Canada is virtually certain to reach a population mark of 17,000,000 next year. Immigration accounted for about half of a gain of 508,000 persons in the 12 months before June I.—Ottawa, August 3.
