CURRENT NOTES
A cocktail party was held by the Christchurch branch of the Craighead Old Girls’ Association at the National Party clubrooms on Saturday evening. Mrs D. Manson, president of the branch, received about 90 former pupils of Craighead Diocesan School (Timaru) and their friends. Guests of honour included Mrs E. W. Kerr, president of the association in Timaru; the Rev. L. A. Barnes and Mrs Barnes; and representatives of kindred associations.
Mrs M. L. Weatherhead presided at the July meeting of the Hoon Hay sub-committee of the Plunket Society when a member of the Child Welfare Division gave a talk on her work.
Films in colour of beauty spots throughout the Dominion were shown by an officer of the New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department to members of the Christchurch branch of the League for the Hard of Hearing on Friday evening.
