Top Price Of £l5O
The top pricer of £l5O was paid for Mr R. M. Wilson’s Dr. Mac at the first annual sheepdog sale held at Tinwald on Friday. About 400 persons followed the sale, where 50 dogs were sold, three for more than £lOO. The average price for the grown dogs was about £39 10s.
Mr Wilson’s huntaway Ned fetched the next best price of £l2O. A heading dog offered by Mr L. J. Waters, of Albury, brought £lO2 10s. Dogs were given a trial before the buyers, who came from as far afield as South Otago and Marlborough. An average price for those dogs run before the buyers was about 65 guineas. This sale would be an annual fixture in an endeavour to bring together buyers and sellers, said a spokesman for the stock and station agency which conducted it Vendors were well pleased with the prices, he said.
