Communist PartyProposal
(Rec. 9 p.m.) BERLIN, Aug. 1. A joint declaration issued by the East German and Austrian Communist parties and published today calls for the creation of a European security organisation in which States 'could take part regardless of their social order. . The statement published in the East German Communist Party newspaper “Neues Deutschland.’’ was signed by the chief of the East German Socialist Unity (Communist) Party, Mr Walter Ulbricht, and the chairman of the Austrian Communist Party, Mr Johann Koplenig.
The statement said both sides were determined to combat revisionism and dogmatism, and referred to the Soviet Union’s leadership of the socialist countries.
The Austrian delegation welcomed East Germany’s proposal for a ban on all atomic weapons in Germany and for a limitation on the number of German troops. The two sides appealed for an end to atomic weapon tests and a ban on the use of such weapons.
