Mr John Cain Dead

(Rec. 7 p.m.) BRISBANE, August 4. The veteran Victorian Labour politician, Mr John Cain, three times Premier of his State, died suddenly in Townsville hospital today. Mr Cain, with his wife, had been on holiday in Queensland after taking a briei part in the Queensland election campaign. Mr Cain, who was 70, had been a member of the Victorian Legis lative Assembly for 40 years, ana leader of the Victorian Parliamentary Labour Party since 193/ He was host to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh during the Royal visit to Victoria in 1954. and was Victoria’s representative -at the Coronation. Mr Cain is survived by his Wife, one son, and a daughter. The Victorian Premier, Mr Henry Bolte, said that Mr Cam would be given a State funeral in Melbourne.
