ILLEGAL ENTRY TO N.Z.
Investigations By Police (New Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 4.
Police arid the Immigration Division of. the Labour Department are making progress in investigations into suggestions that paid agents have been used to get illegal entry to New Zealand 'for Chinese through the use of false permits, says the “Evening Post.” In April this year, it was alleged that Chinese were enter- _ ing/the country illegally and a police spokesman said it appeared the illegal entry system had been operated for about 12 months. It is now believed the police and departmental officials are getting to the core of the trouble but how soon information can be assembled to bring any sort of prosecution is not yet certain, and how many people may be involved is also not yet certain, says the newspaper.
