Mr Cooksley To Stand Again
(New Zeaiana Press Association) MASTERTON, August 2.
The sitting member for the Wairarapa (Mr B. V. Cooksley) will be the official National Party candidate for the seat at the General Election.
This was announced today by the National Party headquarters. Mr Cooksley’s nomination was the only one received. Petty Officer P. L. Smith a telegraphist stationed at the Naval Base, Auckland, has been ihosen as the Labour Party candidate for the North Shore electorate. He will oppose the Minister of Housing (Mr D. J. Eyre), the member since 1949, and a naval lieutenant during World War 11. Petty Officer Smith is aged 28, married and has one child.
