JADE SAILS FOR ENGLAND

Governot-General’s Daughters’ Pet

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 12. The latest “rags-to-riches” story concerns Jade, a Wellington-born dog of obscure parentage whose future lies in the fair fields of an English country home. He sailed tonight in the Ceramic with his devoted owners, the Misses Annabel and Sarah Norrie, young daughters of the GovernorGeneral (Lord Norrie) and Lady Norrie.

Described as “more a beagle than anything else,” Jade was one of a Newtown litter of a door-step-dumping mother. The mother was discriminating. She chose the attractive precincts, of Government House for her black, brown, and white patterned offspring.

Jade had a warm welcome gnd, with personality overcoming lack of pedigree, won a permanent place in the hearts of his adopted owners.

Before the Ceramic sailed this evening, the Governor-General and Lady Norrie were the guests at dinner of the master, Captain F. A. Smith.
