FUR AUCTION BARGAINS
£6 For Russian Fox Cape
A Russian fox fur cape was sold for £6 at an auction sale of fur stoles, coats and capes in Christchurch yesterday. Musquash and mink coats, valued at £3OO, were sold for about £7O and the whole collection was valued at £4(ft)o.
Furs of all colours and styles were hung on racks around the walls of the room. A slim mannequin displayed the furs. Most of them were bought by women, but there were also a few men present. Some bought coats or stoles and left the auction room looking pleased with their bargains. Two £4O fox stoles sold for £l9 a pair and a marmot coat valued at £llO, was bought by a woman for £46. A silver fox fur cape was sold for £9 10s, the retail price being £3O, and a £2OO musquash coat whs bought for £55. Bidding was slow, especially when full-length coats were offered, but there was more interest when stoles and capes were displayed.
