Cricket First Hat-Trick Of English Season
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 11. David Halfyard, a 26-year-old Kent fast medium bowler, today had the first hat-trick of the current English season in the match against Worcestershire. He dismissed the leading Worcestershire batsmen, Martin Horton and Roy Booth, with the last two balls of one over and got the all-rounder, Roland Jenkins, with the first ball of his next. They'were all caught. Halfyard finished with seven for 45. He has the best figures of the season—nine for 39 against Glamorgan, at Neath. Hampshire’s West Indies opening batsman, Roy Marshall, scored a century before lunch with 13 minutes to spare in the match against Glamorgan today. He went on to reach 163—his highest score for Hampshire—before he gave a catch behind the wicket with the total 254. He had batted 193 minutes and hit » six and 18 fours.
