*‘l am really looking forward to the trip round New Zealand but I have very mixed feelings about making speeches,” said 18-year-old John Mowat, this year’s Otaki scholar, when he arrived in the Rangitata’ this morning; John, who is school captain of Robert Gordon College, Aberdeen, said this will be his first experience in public speaking. He intends .to attend the University of Aberdeen to take a degree, either in physics or electrical engineering. His sporting interests Jnclude athletics and Rugby. k '• John is the eldest of three children. His father is a minister of religion.
