Tunnel Road
Sir, —The views of Mr Lush are respected, but many will not agree with him regarding the Lyttelton road tunnel. It is necessary for the progress of Canterbury, and the South Island, that this important work oe gone ahead with immediately. Anything which might delay the project should be brushed aside. The benefit of a tunnel, completed in the near future, will greatly outweigh any error in siting. In any case, a second tunnel will be necessary in the years ahead. Canterbury’s dilatoriness in recent years in pushing ahead with amenities that spell progress is well knqwn. Let us have no more of it.—Yours, etc., GET CRACKING. July 4, 1957.
