Firm’s Loss
Half of the finishing room at 8 car paint shop at Addington was gutted by a fire which broke out shortly after midday yesterday.
The amount of damage had not been assessed yesterday afternoon. A spray gun and an electric sander were destroyed, and dozens of gallons of paint were ruined.
Radiated heat from a stove started the fire. It was discovered by an employee of the firm. Metropolitan Motor Body Repairs, Ltd. Employees attempted to control the fire with a fire extinguisher and a hose, but were unsuccessful.
The fire brigade was called at 12.27 pun., and engines from the central station and Sydenham attended. The fire was brought under control in a few minutes.
