HIGHER TECHNICAL EDUCATION
Conference To Be Held Next Month
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22.
A conference on higher technical education would be held at Wallis House, in Lower Hutt, from June 24 to June 28, said the Minister of Education (Mr R. M. Algie). The purpose of the conference is to evaluate the present stage of development of technical schools, to estimate the present and prospective needs of industry for technical training, and to suggest what steps technical schools should take to meet those needs. Persons attending the conference will include board members and principals of the larger technical schools, departmental officers, several representatives of industrial and commercial interests and one or two others who have been invited as individuals. Mr Algie said he hoped this conference would strengthen the relations between the technical schools and industry.
