FRUITGROWERS’ EXCHANGE
Australian Visit Arranged (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, May 22. The president of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation (Mr F. T. A. Archer) today announced the names of three young New Zealand fruitgrowers who have been selected to go to Australia under an exchange scheme between the two countries. The men are Messrs P. Taylor. Alexandra, F. Faulin, Clyde. Central Otago, and R. W. Fuller, Hastings. Mr Archer expressed the appreciation of the federation to the Apple and Pear Board and Fruit Distributors, Ltd., for financial assistance in making the exchange possible. The exchange is for 12 months, the New Zealand federation being responsible for return fares from New Zealand and for finding work on orchards in Australia, plus certain travelling expenses while in Australia. It is hoped that it will be possible for the successful applicants to depart from New Zealand in June. At least two young Australian fruitgrowers will be coming to : New Zealand and the federation will place them on orchards in i various fruit districts during their 12 months’ stay in New Zealand.
