RADIO EMERGENCY CORPS
N.Z.-Wide Exercise The Radio Emergency Corps of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters held a Dominion-wide exercise recently, when radio operators throughout New Zealand linked up under conditions simulating an emergency. Four temporary stations and one mobile station were in operation in and around Christchurch with 18 Christchurch operators taking part. Throughout the Dominion, some 250 operators were on duty for the practice of emergency procedure. The Radio Emergency Corps maintains a considerable amount of equipment which is always ready for an emergency call and the members of the corps are all skilled in the handling of messages under the most difficult conditions. \ The corps has a fine record of service to the community dating back to the Napier earthquake.
