Titles For Surf Ski Events

Among several Canterbury remits to be considered at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association during Queen’s Birthday week-end are two which relate to surf ski events at national championships. Canterbury will ask that an additional surf ski event be Included in the programme. At present only one event is held, and if a competitor is unlucky in this one race he has no further chance. Canterbury considers another event is warranted by the high cost of freight for surf skis and the cost of the craft. The Canterbury association will also ask that a surf ski competitor who loses his patient after picking him up at the buoy should be disqualified. Other Canterbury suggestions are that a standard rescue report form, similar to the one successfully used by Canterbury, should be adopted, and that more portable reels should be obtained for area, not normally petrolled.
