WELL-PAID "FAILURE"
Is Ken Rosewall, former Davis Cup star, sorry about turning professional? “What is there to be sorry about,” says Rosewall. “I’ve already earned my £30,000 guarantee and will be making sheer profit frbm now on. Who can be sorry about that?” But, according to recent reports from New York, Rosewall seems to be in poor health, having lost 81b in weight, and he appears to have lost all hope of catching his more experienced rival, Richard Gonzales. Rosewall has done better in his profesional career than any other recent amateur champion. Although he is trailing behind Gonzales about 45-26 in their 100match series, he is still something of a failure When the American tour ends, Rosewall and his wife Wilma Rosewall will continue with the troupe on a tour of the Far East, finishing in a return trip to Australia where the present tour began.
