DEATH OF FRENCH TEST PILOT
(Rec. 9 p.m.) PARIS, May 21. A leading French test pilot and a former cycling champion, Charles Goujon, was killed today when his Trident II supersonic jet fighter blew up on a test flight. The plane disintegrated soon after taking oft from Melun-Vil-laroche aerodrome, a test centre for some of France’s fastest aircraft. The wreckage was strewn over a wide area and Goujon’s body was found half-buried in a field. The top speed of the Trident II in level flight exceeds Mach 2 (1250 to 1550 miles an hour). Unlawful Imprisonment Charge. —John Raymond Bridal, 26, a labourer, of Lewisham, London, was today remanded in custody until May 30, on a charge of unlawfully imprisoning Marjorie Sylvia Jordan, aged 26, a shop assistant, in an underground room from January 8 until April 21 this year and of assaulting her. —London, May 21.
