Hunt, of Wanaka, who presided at the seventh annual farmers’ conference at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, yesterday. “But it very definitely is for us to go home from this conference with a determination that we will use all our power and authority to see that at least two such stations are established, with the necessary research organisation alongside them, as the two must go together. “Ohly in this way, and with the help of science, can we hope to overcome the problem of hogget ill-thrift and other stock ills that will visit us from time to time ” Mr Hunt, who was speaking at the opening of the three-day conference, said that he had endeavoured to carry out a survey of losses in the South Island this autumn. “The result really is rather appalling,’ r he said.
