Minister Prefect
The Minister of Education, Mr R. M. Algie, who is honorary head prefect of Tauranga College, visited the school on Wednesday to meet his fellow prefects for the first time. Mr Algie accepted the office last year. The head boy, Clifford Mathews, a Maori, welcomed the Minister, and presentations were made to him by the head girl, Gail Nattrass. Mr Algie told the prefects that it was probably the first time a Minister of Education had presided over such a meeting in the capacity of head prefect. He promised to keep in touch with his fellow prefects from Wellington.
