Griffiths, pres! dent of the Christchurch brand} of the New Zealand Antarctic Society. These good wishes were recalled by Mr Griffiths when he spoil at the branch’s annual meeting, attended by 14 of the 70 menu bers of the branch. Some proposals outlined by Jw Griffiths last evening were thi offering of junior membership, ai . a reduced subscription, to second] ary school children; the estab] lishment of an Antarctic library} and a possible move later to thi new wing of the Canterburi Museum for meetings. After the meeting the flirt “Foothold on Antarctic,” the stori of the Theron’s voyage with thi advance party of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic expedition to establish Shackleton Base ®} the Weddell Sea coast, from Dh cember, 1955, to December, 195 a was shown.
