SOVIET ARMS PLAN
Press Criticism In U.S.
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 3. The “New York Times” today described the latest Soviet proposals on disarmament as “so patently dishonest as to merit curt rejection.” But the newspaper said that the proposals were “so ingenious as to call for detailed examination lest they cause confusion.” “The proposals are not only inadequate but dangerous, because of the delusions they spread. “The Prime Minister of Britain, Mr Macmillan, has already rejected them.
“It is to be hoped that other Western Powers will promptly follow suit.”
