FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation: A trough of low pressure is moving eastwards across central New Zealand and a south-westerly airstream is spreading over the South Island.

Forecast:— West Coast: South-westerly winds, mainly moderate; some rain early in Buller, otherwise variable skies with a few passing showers; moderate day temperatures. Outlook: scattered showers in south Westland, otherwise fair to cloudy. Nelson: “Moderate south-west winds; rain early, but improving to fair, except for showers about the ranges during the morning. Outlook: fair.

Marlborough: Winds becoming light but moderate south-westerlies developing during the afternoon; unsettled weather, with periods.of rain; temperatures tending cooler. Outlook: mainly fair. Canterbury: Moderate south-westerly winds at first, but winds becoming variable in the south later; showers about and north of Banks Peninsula, but soon becoming fair in the south; moderate day temperatures. Outlook: mainly fair.

CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
