Students’ Qualifications

The academic standard of students entering training college is too low, said Mr J. W. Armstrong, principal of the Dunedin Teachers’ College on Thursday at the annual meeting of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Whereas in 1938, only six of the training college entrants did not have university entrance qualifications, this year well over 50 per cent, of the students came into that category, he said.—(PJA.)
