H-Bomb Tests

Sir,—The first bright spot is Japan. The Japanese possess the most peaceful constitution in the world, drawn up by the Americans and approved by the Japanese themselves. This constitution abolishes the Japanese army, navy, and air force “for ever.’’ Japan’s consistent action against nuclear tests merits high praise. The next bright spot is Western' Germany. Here, 18 top atomic scientists have struck against war by refusing to have anything to do with making nuclear weapons. These German scientists merit higher praise. The third and brightest spot of all is Soviet Russia. The proclamation by Khrushchev of the "communism of the heart,’’ appealing to the heart and freely adopted, is a world event of the first magnitude. "We shall never take up arms to impose the ideas- of communism upon anyone,” said Khrushchev. "Our ideas will conquer mankind’s heart.’’ Khrushchev merits the highest praise of all. All power to Khrushchev ism.—Yours, etc., N. M. BELL. Good Friday, 1957.
