STATE HOMES IN PARADE

Five Applications

For Purchase

Only five applications had been received by the State Advances Corporation in Christchurch for the purchase of four houses in the Parade of Homes, Wayside street, Bryndwr, built for the Government, when applications closed on Wednesday. The four houses offered for sale by the corporation are No.’s 26, 27, 28, and 29 in the parade. They comprise two two-bedroom houses, priced at £2400 and £2850 respectively, a four-bedroom single-storey house priced at £3025, and a four-bedroom double-storey house at £3450. Tfcese prices do not include the sections.

The corporation had expected more applications, said the manager of the Christchurch branch (Mr H. R. McKenzie). However, a few more applications might have been in the post, he said.

Mr McKenzie said that a ballot to decide the allocation of the houses was unlikely. A preference clause had been advertised in the conditions of sale giving preference to elderly persons for the purchase of the twobedroomed houses.

The five applications so far represented a cross-section of the community, Mr McKenzie said. They included young persons with families and elderly persons.
