Cape Bill On Nurses

(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) CAPE TOWN, April 17.

A bill which would bring apartheid to the South African nursing profession was introduced into Parliament today by the Health Minister, Mr Johannes Biljoen. Under it, the South African Nursing Council would consist of white citizens permanently resident in South Africa.

Two advisory boards, one of coloured people and the other of Africans, would be set up to advise the council on matters relating to coloured and African nurses or midwives respectively. Under the bill, anyone who caused a white nurse to be placed under the control or supervision of anyone who was not white in any hospital or similar institution, or in any training school, would be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £2OO. A South African Nursing Association would be established with separate branches or groups for whites, coloured people, and Africans. w
