Riverton Cup Prospect “The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL, April 17. Horses capable of handling holding ground will be expected to fare best in the £ 1500 Riverton Cup, main event and second leg of the double, on the opening day of the Riverton Racing Club’s Easter carnival on Saturday. The promoted hack, Rhythmonic, unbeaten at his last three starts in hack ranks, is selected to carry the day. with the top-weight and noted mudlark. Good Abbott, a strong second choice. Pilot Light, Defallock, and Liban will also be considered. Ocean Flight and Treasure Bond have been withdrawn, and Obelisk is a doubtful runner. Montrose, King’s Lace, and Red Admiral look the most likely among the sprinters in the Aparima Handicap, the first leg. Culton will not line up in the Great Western, for which Capet will be favourite ahead of last year’s winner. The Tongs. The weather has been showery and the track will be cutting up.
