Multilateral Trade In Far East
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BANGKOK, March 25.
Speaking on a report of the committee on industry and trade, Mr R. T. C. de Lambert, the New Zealand representative, told the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East at Bangkok today that his delegation fully agreed with the committee’s general conclusion that multilateral trade was preferable to bilateral or barter arrangements. He said: “We think it fundamentally sound, but rightly enough the committee has not been dogmatic on the point and has recognised that in some circumstances bilateral arrangements although clearly the second best—can assist a country to dispose of its normal exports.”
