EDUCATION OF THE DEAF

The department regarded the establishment of a diagnostic and guidance service at a new clinic

at the Christchurch Teachers’ College as “a most significant step forward in the work done for deaf children in New Zealand,” said a report of the college committee received by the Canterbury Education Board yesterday.

“No-one is better qualified than Miss A. M. Pickles to undertake the training of selected teachers in diagnostic and guidance techniques,” the report said. Three specialists are required for the clinic and it is proposed to call applications for admission to a training course conducted by Miss Pickles.
