Fall in Wine Production Wine production in New Zealand in the year 1955-56 dropped by 33,000 gallons in comparison with the previous year. In all, 509,000 gallons were produced, according to the latest issue of the Abstract of Statistics. The number of winemakers covered in the collection was 164, of whom 143 were small operators, using only part-time labour. In the same period 231,000 gallons were imported, as against 135,000 gallons in the preceding year.
