JAPANESE WHALERS AT WELLINGTON
(Neto Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 19.
Moving in line ahead in a milelong procession, six chasers of the Japanese whaling fleet came into Wellington today after a successful season in the Antarctic. They have called for oil-fuel and stores. The chasers came from the Antarctic with the mother ship, the 11,050-ton tanker Kinjyo Maru. The tanker is fully loaded with whale oil ,and will not come into harbour, but will be joined in Cook Strait by the chasers for the journey home.
The six chasers killed more than 1300 whales while they were in the Ross Sea.
If fuelling is completed in time, the fleet will sail tonight; if not it will leave early tomorrow morning.
