Cases Dealt With In February
During February Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M.. and his Court Associates, Mrs T. Green and Mr W. C. Colee dealt with the following cases:
A 15-year-old girl, appearing on a complaint that she was not under proper control was committed to the care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare. Unlawful conversion of a motorcar and driving without a licence resulted in a 15-year-old boy being placed under the supervision of a child welfare officer for one year.
A 14-year-old boy charged with obscene exposure was admonished and discharged. A 12-year-old boy and his companion, aged 14, appeared before the Court charged with possessing a firearm while still under the age of 16 years. Both boys were admonished and discharged. Theft of money from a house led to a 13-year-old boy appearing before the Court. He was admonished and discharged. A fine of £2 was imposed bn a 15-year-old youth charged with being in possession of a firearm while under age. A further charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal was dismissed.
A 15-year-old youth who sold a a firearm to another youth under 16 years was admonished and discharged. A second 15-year-old youth charged with being in possession of two firearms while under age was admonished and discharged. A 14-year-old boy, charged with shopbreaking and theft, was placed under the supervision of a child welfare officer for two years and ordered to make restitution of £29 6s 2d.
Two boys, aged 14 and 16, who discharged a firearm in a public place, were admonished and discharged. For attempted false pretences two 16-year-old youths were placed under supervision for a year.
Because a complaint was made that she was not under proper control a 14-year-old girl was committed to the care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare. Two 16-year-old traffic offenders were dealt with. Fines totalling £9 were imposed on one for driving without a licence, exceeding 30 miles an hour in a restricted area, and driving an unlicensed motor-cycle. For driving without 3 warrant of fitness or a driver’s licence the other was fined £3.
