OVERDRIVE AT WYNDHAM

INVERCARGILL, March 10. The Ashburton • candidate. Overdrive, provided the highlight of a good day’s racing at the opening of the Wyndham Trotting Club’s autumn meeting on Saturday.

Overdrive beat the sprinters in the Au Revoir Handicap after appearing to have little chance at the straight entrance. Overdrive unwound a brilliant run in the final furlong to get up and win going away. Her success qualified her for the £lOOO Wyndham Handicap on the second day. The weather was threatening early, but it soon cleared and the meeting was held under excellent conditions. The track was in good order. The winning double combination, Responsive and Dame Sybil, returned a dividend of £9B 19s for £l. The totalisator handled £27,893 10s, compared with £29,933 last year, a decrease of £2039 10s.
