A New Zealand-born aircraft inspector, Raymond Colin Santos, aged 46, was awarded £5OOO damages by a jury at the Melbourne Supreme Court yesterday for injuries suffered when he was sucked into the intake of the first Australian-made Sabre jet fighter at Geelong three years ago. The jury assessed the total damages at £7500. but reduced this sum by £2500 because of contributory negligence by Santos.
