Canterbury Crews’ Success (From Our Own Reporter) PORT CHALMERS. March 3. Ideal water and wind conditioni favoured the ninety-fifth Port Chalmers Regatta held yesterday. Twelve clubs'from Otago, Canterbury, and Southland competed. Large fields were entered, particularly in the youths’ and novices’ events. The Silver Fern Cup for the most successful club was won by the Canterbury Rowing Club, whose 13 points covered wins in the senior pairs, junior fours, maiden double sculls, and novice fours. The main event of the day was the senior fours, won by the solid’ Otago crew. The crew had just returned from the New Zealand championships, where they were part of the eight which was beaten only by West End <Auckland). However, the most outstanding win of the day went to Canterbury’s novice fours, who rowed like veterans to win by 10 lengths. The senior double sculls were won by the experienced Union crew, and the senior pairs by Canterbury. Results: Youths’ Double Sculls.—Queen’s Drive 1. Otago 2, Port Chalmers 3. Senior Single Sctills.
