GLADBROOK ESTATE, near Middlemarch, was owned by Sir John Roberts, of Dunedin, and the illustration shows the original house on the property. Sir John Roberts took a prominent part in the founding of the New Zealand frozen meat export industry, the seventy-fifth anniversary of which was celebrated last week. A more modern homestead, sheltered by trees specially imported from abroad, was later built on the property, then of 18,000 acres.
