MACMILLAN’S DRESS

“Shudders Of Horror” (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 18. Mr Macmillan, as Prime Minister, is sending shudders of horror creeping along the spines of advocates of sartorial elegance, according to the “Daily Mail” today. Roger Berkeley in "The Outfitter” said: “When photographed after his appointment his choice of outfit was unusual to say the least. “He wore striped morning trousers with a double-breasted striped town jacket. And indeed he also wore a pullover and a rumpled soft-collared shirt. “The passing of Sir Anthony Eden from the political scene was received by those in the sartorial world with a slight twinge of sadness, which was not tempered by any hopeful feeling that Mr Macmillan would fill his shoes as the well-groomed diplomat who was the model immaculate statesman,” said the correspondent.
